The International Federation of Journalists and Media Professionals is unique in granting individual membership to those who are not affiliated with unions or national labor or professional federations, provided that they adhere to professional ethics and the principles of freedom of the press and media. Membership in the Global Union of Journalists and Media Professionals is available to anyone who practices journalism and media work, including journalists, editors, reporters, videographers, photographers and graphic designers, as well as media specialists in the fields of print, radio, television and new media, who meet the following conditions:

-Holds an academic qualification from a recognized university or body.
-Diploma, Master’s or Doctorate degree in journalism or media.
-A diploma, master’s degree, or doctorate in a specialty related to the field.
-A certificate proving the practice of the profession with no less than two years of experience.

Membership of agencies, trade unions, federations and training centres:
Syndicates and federations of journalists and media professionals have the right to apply for membership to be a partner in the World Federation of Journalists and Media Professionals and to grant them permanent membership in the Union.
Conditions for membership in trade unions and federations:
- The presence of official proof of the establishment of the media or press agency or training center issued by any governmental body or international organization.
- The presence of a letter of authorization or representation for whoever represents the agency to contact the union to obtain membership “stamped and signed by the media agency.”
- Website, official email, contact number, agency logo in high resolution.
